How to Host an "I've Got a Text" Dinner Party
Share
There’s something about a themed girls' night that instantly turns an ordinary evening into a memory. Lately, villa-inspired watch parties have been everywhere, and after hosting my own "I've Got a Text" dinner party, I can confidently say it was one of the most fun themes I've ever created.
Think tropical details, a Bombshell Bellini Bar, personalized champagne flutes, playful conversation starters, and all the girls gathered around a beautiful table ready for a night of laughs, drama, and cocktails.
If you're looking for a unique girls' night idea, here's exactly how to recreate the I've Got a Text! Dinner Party experience.
Step 1: Create a Villa-Inspired Atmosphere
The magic starts before guests ever sit down.
Instead of decorating around a television, focus on creating a space that feels like an escape. The goal is to make guests feel like they've stepped into their own tropical villa.
Some of my favorite details included:
- Tropical greenery and palm leaves
- Warm candlelight
- Woven lanterns
- Disco ball accents
- Soft pink details
- Ambient outdoor lighting
- A themed welcome sign
The atmosphere should feel playful, feminine, and slightly over-the-top in the best possible way.
Step 2: Set the Table
The villa tablescape becomes the centerpiece of the night.
For this party, I leaned into tropical textures and bright summer colors while keeping the overall look elevated and intentional.
My table included:
- Woven chargers
- White dinner plates
- Tropical leaf napkin rings
- Gold flatware
- Blue napkins
- Palm leaves running down the center
- Disco ball accents
One of my favorite details was placing heart-shaped sunglasses at each seat. They doubled as décor and instantly got everyone laughing and taking photos.
Step 3: Create a Bombshell Bellini Bar
Every great girls' night needs a signature drink.
Instead of serving cocktails individually, I created a self-serve Bombshell Bellini Bar where guests could build their own drinks.
Bombshell Bellini Recipe
Ingredients:
- Prosecco
- Peach nectar
- Peach slices
- Ice
Directions:
Fill a champagne flute with peach nectar and top with chilled prosecco. Garnish with a peach slice and serve immediately.
For non-drinkers, sparkling cider makes a great substitute.
To make the bar feel extra special, I added:
- Personalized champagne flutes
- A custom Bellini Bar sign
- Gold bar accessories
- Decorative trays
- Fresh peaches
- Tropical florals
Guests naturally gathered around the drink station all night long.
Step 4: Keep the Food Simple
The party doesn't need a complicated menu.
The goal is creating an experience, not spending hours cooking.
For this party, I served:
- Taco bar
- Chips and salsa
- Pineapple slaw
- Mango salsa
- Fresh toppings
A taco bar is ideal because guests can customize their plates and continue snacking throughout the evening.
Step 5: Add Interactive Details
The small details are what guests remember most.
I created themed question cards inspired by villa-style conversations and placed them throughout the table.
Some examples:
- Who would be the first to couple up?
- Who would survive the longest in the villa?
- Who is most likely to stir the pot?
- Who always has the tea?
These simple prompts immediately got everyone talking and created some of the funniest moments of the night.
Step 6: Dress the Part
Half the fun of a themed party is committing to the theme.
For my comfy villa hostess outfit, I chose:
- Pink striped shorts
- White tank
- Gold jewelry
- Straw clutch
- Strappy sandals
- Oversized sunglasses
Comfortable enough to host, but still fun enough to feel like a bombshell entrance.
Encourage guests to wear bright colors, resort-inspired outfits, or anything that feels vacation-ready.
My Favorite Part
The best parties aren't always the most expensive or elaborate.
They're the ones that create a feeling. The combination of personalized details, tropical decor, great drinks, and a table full of friends made this one of my favorite girls' nights to date.
If you're looking for a summer hosting idea that feels fun, playful, and completely different from the usual wine night, an "I've Got a Text" dinner party might just be your next favorite theme.
Love this theme? It also makes the perfect inspiration for a Bombshell Bride bachelorette party!
